Can AI-generated or AI-assisted work be entered?
The MUSE Illustration Awards recognizes illustration in which the entrant demonstrates meaningful creative authorship and artistic contribution. AI-assisted tools may be used where permitted, but entrants must disclose any material use of generative AI during the submission process.
Fully AI-generated work created primarily through prompting, without substantial human artistic development or transformation, is not eligible within the main illustration categories.
Entrants remain responsible for the originality, authorship, rights, permissions, and accuracy of all information associated with submitted work.
How is character and IP illustration judged?
Entries are evaluated across Creativity & Originality, Concept & Visual Storytelling, Artistic Craft & Execution, Communication & Impact, and Context & Relevance, with consideration given to the work’s character development, artistic quality, audience connection, purpose, application, and creative or IP context.
