The same core judging framework applies across the competition, but entries are considered in relation to their intended purpose, audience, category, application, and creative context. The jury does not seek one preferred illustration style.

Are Professional and Emerging entries judged together?

Professional and Emerging entries are evaluated within their respective divisions for Platinum, Gold, and Silver recognition and for their respective highest individual honors.

Eligible entries from both divisions compete together for Category Winner of the Year recognition within each of the 17 main illustration disciplines.

One outstanding work from each of the 17 main illustration disciplines is selected from eligible Professional and Emerging entries. Selection may consider jury score, overall distinction, strength within the discipline, and exceptional demonstration of the official judging criteria.
